Interesting to hear your none Photoshops comp method. I tend towards that "live" design method too... if that's what you mean.

For a very simple site I like it alot. Plus the ajax used adds more spice to the site. So you don't remember the revision ?

Yeah that is exactly what I mean. I have tried the PS comp route, but it just feels wrong. The code dictates so much...

wow. Hot idea! I agree. Live design always seems to somehow trump what you've played with in pchop.

This isn't a 'live redesign' per se, it is a production version of the theme that I am working on in a sandbox environment.

To the great frustration of my instructors over the years, I never do roughs of any sort, preferring to just jump in and work things out as I go. The last major design I made for my site, however, I did an actual Photoshop mockup, and actually stuck to it. I imagine it turned out better than the rest of my stuff, but it's hard to say. I'm happy with it, though, and that's all that really matters. As far as the design itself: I really like what you've got going, with the muted colour scheme. I'm a bit curious as to why your content area is so empty, though. Do you plan on having a sidebar of some sort? I like the whitespace it gives, but the student in me wants to cram something in there. In the end, I think I prefer it open. As another thought, providing some sort of explanation for your tag cloud may be helpful. I suppose it would depend on what kind of people you expect to have visiting your site.

Well, whatever you guys say, I find a Photoshop comp greatly eases the design, and doesn't let the code dictate. I don't let the code bother me when I'm in Photoshop. I know, that by hook or by crook, I should be able to get them to work. By the way, nice design!

Another thing about the design. Try a little bar at the very top with dashes of different color. I think it'll look very good.

Jordan, Thanks for the thoughts. This is in no way a finished product, I just started on it really this week. There will be much more information as I decide what that is. As for the tag cloud, the way it works is that you click on My Thoughts and the tag cloud appears. I am hoping that is self explanatory enough.
