Just finishing up some integration work on our new design and our homegrown CMS... and yes I have switched to TextMate. I decided that if I have to pay for my editor I would buy one that had the most bang for the buck and TM beats SubEthaEdit in that respect hands down. I do miss the bonjour based team editing though...

Interesting. ...and? how has it been working? Better for the CMS part, or for the regular html-editing?

Better for both. TextMate has a far better syntax complete than SubEtha and the ability to create 'templates' and macro's can't be beat either. Download the trial and give it a whirl, trust me.

How do you get the address of your local site to be that address and not just localhost? I'm new to the whole local/remote stuff. Any tips for working local and remotely and keeping both synced?

TextMate looks cool. I downloaded the trial, but I'm a sucker for auto-complete code... (yes, I admit I can't memorise the entire CSS specification). If it was a feature in TextMate, I couldn't find it. I dabbled with Smultron, but have since switched to skEdit. I'm enjoying it so far. Still haven't had an opportunity to test its Source Control Management yet. What are your plans for the CMS?

Hey guys, To have something other than localhost be the address of your site on a Mac, you just need to set your machine name to something sane. Under Sharing you will see the Computer Name text box, set that to something short, I have mine at work set to g5dmitri. Whatever is in that box will have .local appended to it and viola! We are using SVN to keep everthing in sync, and it works like a charm. The CMS is going to be released under some OSS license sometime soon. We have developed it for use in a collegiate setting, so It really wouldn't be suited to powering a normal website... but who knows. I will keep everyone updated as to when we are releasing it and where.

sweet. But did you guys have to set up the SVN yourselves before the development or was it already avaiable on their servers ?

Hey Trajan, This is our server, we host everything on campus. So we set it up. It isn't hard though, trust me... plus the time you put into setting it up is well worth it the first time you accidentally commit a change and can roll back one version.

oh that's right, you work at a college. My mistake. But yeah SVN is awesome, we had a rollback issue once thank god we had SVN installed the week before. We were up and running again in less than 2 hours. BRILLIANT !
